Dr Wernecke is a sub-speciality trained orthopaedic surgeon. He specialises in complex primary and revision joint replacements of the hip and knee.
His fellowship training was completed at the prestigious Granovsky Gluskin Division of Orthopaedics at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto Canada which is the largest revision arthroplasty centre in the country. He now runs a complex joint clinic for dissatisfied joint replacement patients with reduced patient numbers and longer appointment times for patients with complex issues to receive the focused care they require.
Dr Wernecke performs computer navigated and robotic total knee replacements and is involved with trialling new technologies to continue improving patient outcomes in knee replacement surgery. He also performs direct anterior approach total hip replacement in conjunction with robotic technology. This combination gives patients the benefits of early recovery & decreased dislocation rates while reducing risks.
He cares for all sports related knee conditions with special focus on ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair and patellofemoral instability. He also performs limb re-alignment and cartilage restoration procedures.
